One good rule of thumb to live by is that if you put it on the Internet it’s out there for the taking. And eventually some hacker will figure out a way past every security protection or fire wall you set up.
Two words… You’re screwed. Sorry to put it so bluntly but if you don’t keep an eye on what you do with credit card numbers, bank account numbers and particularly your Social Security number; you are opening yourself up as the perfect target for identity theft. Erroneous information discovered on your credit report needs to be reported and corrected immediately.
Remember too that there are three different credit reports available and that some institutions will check all three before considering you for any type of application.
